Apparently a lot of people here don't follow archeology.

The oldest Homo sapiens remains found come from Ethiopia. They're 160,000 years old.

things are quiet until hitler decides he'd like to invade russia
so, he does
the russians are like "OMG WTF D00DZ, STOP TKING"
and the germans are still like "omg ph34r n00bz"
the russians fall back, all the way to moscow
and then they all begin h4xing, which brings on the russian winter
the germans are like "wtf, h4x"

Well, if you want to get really into it, we're all Africans.

wtf are you smokin?

Ever heard of evolution?

But I don’t get why most Americans think they live in the best country, I know every country has its pros and cons, but if they think that there the best example of how a country should be run then they are sadly mistaken,
For a country that's the richest in the world having a poor heath system and spending more on prisons than education is no example for any country to wish to follow.
so you think your ancestors are monkeys? how the hell could men have come from apes if apes are still here? if they had evolved into us, there wouldnt be any f$@$in apes. just my theory. [/b][/quote]
Men did NOT come from apes, we came from a common predecessor which was neither man nor ape. From this branch point, time and geographic separation lead to the development of different species, each occupying it's own ecologic niche.
Aren't we in the trust tree, thingey?

Lucy's my granny.

Of course the whole concept of linear evolution of man has come under a great deal of criticism, lately. Maybe some of our more recently educated members can fill in the gaps. From what I understand, genetic evidence points to the fact that 95 or so percent of all present humans share a common matrilineal ancestor. But I've also heard theories that state humans evolved simultaneously at different geographic regions. So what's the deal?

I will only complicate you. Trust in me and fall as well.
I will find a center in you. I will chew it up and leave.
I will work to elevate you just enough to bring you down.

I realize that it's a personal failing of mine, but I'll take genetic evidence and the fossil record over religious texts anytime.

I'll probably burn in hell.

I spent 5 consecutive summers at a fundamental Christian camp for 6 week intervals. I have heard all I need to hear about Jesus to make an informed decision.

Throughout time, many "bibles or scriptures" have been created to explain human existence on Earth. How do you know that yours is correct, other than you want too?

The real point is that the Bible is an ejection from the thought process, the powers of reason and deduction. You either believe it or you don't.

Discussions here are for people who are trying to forumlate a more natural cause for our existence. We can compare notes, debate evidence and best of all we can critique proposed theories for weaknesses. The scientific process does not rely on "faith" at anytime and it has no interest in adhering to a theory which can be proven wrong. Scientists use evidence to create a theory, this theory is modified over time to reflect new information. This is distinct from Religion which takes scientific data and a shoe-horn to make it fit into an immutable and foregone conclusion.

Most people who believe in evolution, think of it a framework about which to structure the data, and most will admit that it is far from satisfactory in explaining creation, but this is what we have to work with at the moment.

Scientists are not endeavoring to disprove God,( in fact, I think they would all be greatly relieved if he made an appearance), but to try and understand the forces at work which brought us to pass.

I find the religious contingent to be quite afraid of scientists, lest they find something that will threaten their beliefs. But religions have kept them hindered and in the dark long enough. Go believe in your Bibles, but don't call it a science to be taught in schools, and stay out of the way.
