Thats called a watermark, to protect copyright. No, it can't be removed unless you use paint or photoshop and paint over every little pixel.
REFERAL LINK REMOVED
The picture is already harmed by the watermark.
But you can make it look unharmed by using photoshop.
by using photoshop only
The clone stamp tool in photoshop can do it pretty well without harming the picture if you spend a little time on it.
PS can be done only by people who are well known to PS Skills ... i wish i had some
Sounds like a rogue firefox plugin that takes the images from a webpage and adds their logo before they display it back to you. hehe.nearly every picture on the internet has some logo or name written accross the picture

Click for more activation options, then activate by telephone. Run the keygen.if I call them, aren't they going to get me? (you know, down there)
Removing watermarks is a pain. YOu need to zoom in and copy over the mark with similar colored pixels aroudn the type face. If you crop it to remove the mark, generally this can be found out.
If you want high quality stocks, I recommend making an account on Getty and/or Corbis, then you can download hires pics without watermarks for layout purposes.
