Well, we went into Glasgow today to put a deposit down on a flat, turns out they wanted the following information before we could do that:
references from previous landlords and personal references
3 months worth of bank statements
3 months worth of payslips
the name of my manager at work so they can contact him and get a reference from him as well
1.5 months rent and 1 month rent up front which cannot be paid pro rata
On top of that they couldn't even hold the flat until we wanted to move (12th of August) because it is too far away...
I explained to them that I was on maternity leave and was currently receiving a combination of maternity pay and tax credits, which both together amounts to more than my actual wage.
Apparently that is not ok and being on maternity leave, according to them, is not the same as being employed
We told them were to stick their flat, obviousement.
So we have now found a lovely wee ground floor flat with a garden from someone who is letting it privately, paid the deposit earlier today and we are moving out of here on the 11th
But thanks for pants offer
Oh ,and they also wanted us to pay £110 in fees, just so they could do a proper reference check. Fuck sake.
