there's no rule against massive quoting - but if it really bothers you, just ask nicely for the poster to edit
it isn't really a problem as you only really scroll past it once, its still more annoying to post a topic titled: WTF?!?!

Sometimes people quote because, by the time they have replied there are a couple of posts between what they are replying to and their answer.
Quoting is just an easy way to make it obvious who or what you are making your response to. However I agree that if you are referring to a specific part of the quoted post there is nothing to stop you editing it down. Ensuring that this does not result in taking the persons comments out of context.

the russians are like "OMG WTF D00DZ, STOP TKING"
and the germans are still like "omg ph34r n00bz"
the russians fall back, all the way to moscow
and then they all begin h4xing, which brings on the russian winter
the germans are like "wtf, h4x"

Selective reading and chosing to reply to a small part of a post which twists the meaning.
Now I think about it you are right. No-one would do that.
Man i shuld say it really is annoying. Some times i feel that there is a competition going on to wether who can create the longest qouting chain. There should be a limit to 3-4 nested qoutes.
Quoting if fun.
What's fun about it?
