Agreed. Most tracker forums I've seen don't have threads like this though.

I admire IRC because it's like sitting with friends and talking about random stuff that has little significance.

But forums are a better way to judge someone's intellectual side. Anyone can make smalltalk via irc but not everyone can post something without looking like a fool.

That's very true. I probably should have clarified in what ways I agreed with Crowley in my previous post. Intellectual discussion rarely, if ever, take place in IRC. It's definitely not the place I would look for one. IRC is just a good way to relax and sort of forget about irl stuff... at least for me. I certainly see the intellectual value of forums, and do post in serious threads from time to time.

Quality discussions generally take place on forums, as the members take some time to think and post over a certain topic.
IRC is for small talk. As i see, its more of an unwinding medium than anything else.Forums certainly have a charm of their own.

    @ topic

I voted 0 - 50, but 0 - 5 would better reflect my attitude. Trackers in my opinion are for downloading, not discussion.

I couldnt agree more, what I really find it hilarious when tracker staff beg for people to be active in their lame forums.
