    Actually both TheKmplayer (http://www.kmplayer.com/forums/index.php) and BSPlayer (http://www.bsplayer.org/) play them straight out of the box, no extra codecs, they have them internally.

    Why would you install a different media player just to play a particular file type when you can use your favorite one by simply installing a (tiny) codec pack?

    Because those 2 are my favorites. And Google codecs and see how many peoples system's are messed up because of them. BTW- VLC doesn't need codec packs it's build around the same principle as TheKMPlayer is, no need for stupid codec packs.
