    from going from a 56kbps to 512kbps will i notice that much of a difference or shud i stick to my 56kbps and pay the lower price?

    if you download anything, go for adsl
    if you only surf, stay on 56k

    If you do get ADSL, make sure that you buy your own modem prefrebaly one that runs above 512K and you may be able to capp your connection and achive a higher speed.

    nearly all adsl/ethernet modems are capable of much more than 512k down

    also, you mean uncap the modem...

    DSL can&#39;t be uncapped. the bandwidth is regulated on the ISP&#39;s end.

    with 512kbps bandwidth you should get about 50-60kbps effective download speed, give or take a few.

    Yeah i meant uncappped, although it regulated at the ISP end there can be a slight increase in up speed.

    Definitely go for ADSL, you&#39;ll significantly be pleased with a significant increase, you&#39;ll never have to dial-up again and it won&#39;t tie up the phone. There&#39;s hardly a price difference, the upgrade per month for ADSL, for me, was £5.
