Windows 2000 Pro, MCSE since it first came out, 5 machines in my home LAN. Never ran XP, too many friends with too much trouble, ran programs swapping out several MAJOR corporations off XP BACK to W2K before I retired. Maybe after several service packs it worked okay, don't know.

My W2K machines run 24/7/365, and I have to remind myself every month or two to reboot the things. ZERO DEFECTS. More solid than El Capitan.

Have one Vista machine, had to because too much s/w requires it. It's been 'in the shop' twice on MAJOR seize-ups, mostly due to poor updates (wouldn't 'roll back'), so much so I simply don't update it at all anymore. Don't run IEx so, that's 99% of the updates I don't need (Firefox fanboy).

Win7 I'll try once it gets at least one service pack out.

Now days I would say Windows 7! I have never had a operating system that had worked so good out of the box. Look at XP were you have to install 100 drivers yourself and compare to Windows 7 were you don't have to do anything.
