Yeh from what i can gather they want to put a stop to all the Pre-Oscar Screeners sent out to the Academy Judges..or something along those lines, to stop Unauthorised copies leaking outBut it seems that the Majority are still in favour of those screeners beacause of a few things..
a-not all the academy judges can make it to say a selected theatre for a preview screening (due to work and other shit)..so a vhs/dvd is still a lot more convenient for them.
b-many judges find it a kind of badge of honour to have a pre-oscar copy of a movie on their lap (seriously..you would think these guys would grow up)...and a whole other stack of reasons...Me personally i think it's all paranoia and they will stick with the Screeners (if they, dont..f**k 'em..theres always another way) LOL

Such decision taken by MPAA which is the main lobby group of all the major studios might affect the votings in future as smaller studios, who are not members of MPAA, can still send out screeners of their movies.

Blockbusters are easy to come by anyway. I can rent those easily.
And use my bandwith for the REAL movies outthere.
