    Linksys EtherFast® Cable/DSL Router with 4-Port Switch BEFSR41 is a good model.

    The router will connect to the net for you via your modem (btw, is your alcatel modem a broadband modem?)

    You have a problem, the router has to go between the modem and your network, but I am unaware of any routers which can talk to a USB modem. The alternative would be to get a modem/router (both units combined in 1). There's one here which seems to have a good review.

    Since you have 5 computers, look for a router with at least 5 ports.

    so i get this router plug it up to my computers.And then i will just be able to start one of them up and connect to the net with out dialn up?
