I was raised and still live on the principle that respect is a two way traffic.If you show me none,there is no way you'll be seeing any coming from me(and thats how self respecting men live,right?).You insisting that OLegL shows deference to people who treated him like dirt calling him a retard for not knowing the technical aspects of encoding translates to you advising him to suck up to them as much as he shouldn't(mind you something that he had already tried and failed at even before you suggested it to him) and that in essence is what would make him a child.Going down swinging(as unorthodox as his method has been)is what a real self respecting person does and for that i've recognized him(even though futile).

I don't necessarily agree with his thread let alone care(I don't even know the names he's polling on)but its not for us to pretend to be high-minded people who have a license to pass judgement.He got mistreated and banned unjustly and if this is his way of saying am now ready to move on then so be it.

You've also brought image several times and to tell you the truth its what ails this forum at times.There are people who make posts just for the sake of it(alot of times i'll fall under this category) then there are those who make them just to gain favor with staffers or as part of their grand scheme for the next big catch(too much politics that I don't wanna get into).This is partly why I feel nauseated when browsing through TPS and sadly its starting to take effect on here too and apart from a few,alot of staffers and members are falling for this horse shit.

Moving on though,have you thought of a situation where OLegL isn't upto any favors or invites for that matter?don't you think this lack of need ultimately defeats the purpose of self censorship?What image is to keep really?

Finally i've seen you and rart suggest that its their tracker and they are at will to do whatever tha fuck they want with it or the members for that matter(i'll pause and ask you,does that statement really sound fair/right/correct or true for an objective thinker?).If it was their tracker,would it even be in existence today?its people like OLegL through their donations,bandwidth and time that have built hdbits into what it is today,same applies to many other sites.So you trying to justify this hooligan haphazard ban along this line is improper(and I recall linking you to something about how stiffler(once a staffer) got banned from scT when you were all on staffers always being right/correct/fair.)

Anyways,I don't really know who OLegL is,never talked to him but as much as this thread has been a bad idea,the spirit behind it is more than justified.Am sure hdbits is not run by kiddies but hell those who run it sure acted like kiddies on OLegL and his ban.

Thank you so much for saying these things! Sometimes I feel I am not expressive enough and it's possible that this may cause other people to have a negative reaction toward me, but I feel you understood my deep thoughts, even though you met me recently on this forum.
And, by the way, hdbits folks can find my old thread in the recycle bin section of the hdbits forums. (I was told it's there now.) That thread will show you that I was completely honest about the reason I was banned from there. "5 attempts to login" that thread was called or something like that. You'll find it.

I am having a very hard time understanding why you have decided to champion this cause. OlegL came on her (once again) and threw a tantrum. That's all it was. It is not the first time. When he started the "some people on..." thread, I made a suggestion that he do things in a more positive light. He ignored my suggestion. BIG TIME!

Now, with the above post, you have reassured him that it is totally acceptable to act like an immature 8 year old. Nice going, really the way to help out a new BT member learn how to address conflict!

I like a lot of people here. Some of them are mods. Others are site owners. One of the people I like happens to be you, sez. I enjoy the conversations I have with these people. The one common denominator among all of the people I enjoy- they would NEVER act like OlegL has. Never!

What is the point in any of us (who generally have all of the sites we need) to continue to come here? Is it the joy of adulation when we give out invites to new members? I don't think that would be enough of a reason to come here daily. How about flaming idiots? I'll admit, that has its moments, but it still is not a draw for those of us who have other things to do (school, work, watching paint dry).

I will argue that a lot of us come here because we enjoy the community. Like any community, there are acceptable ways to act. These "norms" are enforced by those in the community. If someone breaks an established norm, they are chastised, shunned, or somehow told that their action(s) are unacceptable.

OlegL's actions were VERY unacceptable. And they were very counter-productive to finding any remedy to his conflict. Now he has NO chance of ever being reinstated. I also argue (like I did before) that he has also hurt his chances of expanding his BT "world". Would you want to recommend anyone who acted like this? I sure as hell would not.

The comments made towards OlegL in this thread, by myself and others, were intended to help him control the damage that he was doing to himself. I would also argue that this thread may have also done some good to others who may have acted in the same manner, but saw how much of a "pounding" he took and probably will learn the same lesson as OlegL without having to pay the price.

In the grand scheme, I could not care less about OlegL. I do think that threads like this CAN help the community. I do not believe, in this instance, that you have done anything here except reinforce the notion that it is acceptable to throw tantrums because "he was treated unfairly".
