The free trial version is ad-sponsored, so your ip is hidden from 'everyone' BUT the ad sponsors... and that may be a lot more people than you realize!

Only the most expensive version allows file sharing, and then the total bandwidth allowed is 50 KB/sec -- which probably includes download AND upload. (You have to consider overheads too&#33

Running a proxy server, as best I can tell, means you have to run in a "firewalled" mode as far as Kazaa/KL++ is concerned. (KL++ CAN'T even get NAT connections with port-forwarding correct without extreme help from KaNAT&#33 This means no downloading from anyone else who's firewalled/behind a router -- or ANOTHER person behind a proxy!

It's rather hard to connect to people if everyone refuses to give out their address... that's why total hiding of your ip address makes connectivity very difficult.

Also, many proxy-providing companies have US government moles on the INSIDE to monitor things like terrorism, child pornography (even accidental...), computer hacking (and as 'flexible' as THOSE laws are, KL++ use can qualify), and even to uncover hostile posters about a company's policies!

As much as I'd like to try it out, Switeck said what I wanted to say. In addition, I'm hesitant to try anything that claims with absolute about PC products, such as their's "With hopster, there's no way anyone will know where or who you are."

    Sorry Shared

btw,one of the US government's establishments, the main, that handles such proxies is ICANN. Such proxies are available in over 50 main countries.
