I'd have thought JavaScript was by far the most popular scripting language so I'd have to recommend that. Or if you're including ActionScript (Flash's scripting language) and/or are interested in making small games then download Flash (I'd recommend version 8 over the more recent CS3 and CS4 versions) and learn ActionScript. There are tonnes of tutorials for AS and JS on the net.
