It depends the one you get. Mrs JP had the 4L V8 auto.
If running cost is a major factor I would go with the zafira. However do not think of it as a 7 seater other than in an emergency. The back two (temporary) seats are actually in the crumple zone at the rear of the car as far as I am aware.
That might be pish, it's just what I have heard and it makes sence.

Yeah, but the extra two seats would only be needed if we had family over from Belgium, so they would really only be used a few times a year.
I think I'll just go for a wee test drive and see what I think.

Get the Galaxy. You'll love the space, the height and visibility, the weans will love the big roomy airy car.
The zafira is a converted estate that doesn't work as well as an estate. The Galaxy is the best people carrier you can get. Fact.

Quick update.
Feeling a bit light headed, in a good way. Pishing like a fucking donkey.
