Given that I'm only peripherally involved in the local school system (mostly to the extent of being inconvenienced by roaming bands of teenager at the grocery store during the day), the only thing I can think of is to pay attention to those running for the school board.

I can empathize about the inconvenience of teenagers, and I have been tuned to school boards since I was a kid; however, these things are accomplished as the result of local 'movements' rather than individuals, and that fact, combined with the ongoing trend toward accomodation, seems to be carrying the day.

It also seems these accomodations are more easily arrived at in other western countries, no matter how much complaint we hear in the U.S.

Yes, but to the extent that it takes place at all...

What are/should we be willing to do to resist this?

Ignoring it is, well - ignoring it.
The best way would be to tell the truth and teach all cases of genocide\massacres or none at all. Remember that top of the list is the slaughter of Native Americans by Europeans in their quest to conquer the New World. It is reckonned that over 100 million innocent people were slaughtered in that conquest.

North American Indians, Incas, Aztecs etc.
We are talking all of the Americas here Kev. Don't get parochial on us.

Still seems a bit high, but perhaps you could have included that tiny differentiation initially so as to save me a BP spike.

Had to look that one up.

Checked up on various sites, that figure seems to be the consensus.

Back on topic the Holocaust. We said that we would not let it happen again and we have sat back and did just that. Pol Pott, Stalin, Rwanda and too many more to mention. It would appear that in some cases we don't interfere unless there is something in it for us.

    Most cases, actually.

Seems reliance on the U.N. for definitive action is a recipe for the precise opposite.

What a phenomenally effective tool the U.N. has proven to be.

    BTW-

Have you a breakdown of the cumulative figures on that "American Indian" massacre, saying who's responsible for what?

Off the top of my head, I would think the Incas and Aztecs would constitute the great (great) majority, though I am sure someone will tell me I'm wrong.
