Background

Oink, AKA "The Pink Palace", is a music oriented tracker based in the UK. It is most likely the largest, and one of the best all around music trackers. Oink is the place to be, if you're a music fan. Members of Oink pride themselves on their musical taste. It is one of the best places to get high quality, lossless (mostly in FLAC format) music. It is a common trade at Oink, however, for uploaders to upload several versions of a record in different qualities, e.g: 192k, 320k and a lossless versions. This allows users with a lower bandwidth to download rare musical gems, though in a slightly lower quality. It is also important to note that although any user can upload music, Oink does set very strict rules on allowed uploads in terms of quality and uniqueness.

The staff at Oink is extremely efficient, and will usually remove torrents which do not meet the required standards within minutes after they've been uploaded, and will most likely warn the uploader.

The raw amount of music at Oink is simply staggering: there are usually aroung 150k-200k musical torrents at Oink at any given time, some of which a extremely hard to find anywhere else. One of the reasons for this huge amount of music, is the fact that any user can upload his favorite music to Oink! This means that the browse page of Oink is constantly updated. A freshly uploaded torrent usually lasts no more than a few minutes at the front page of Oink, so users will most likely have to search for what they want, instead of the usuall "stare at the front page and look for something new to download" tactic most users tend to use at other trackers.

Ratio requirements

At first glance, the ratio requierements at Oink seem very easy to maintain:

"Wow, if I download 5-10GB, all I need to do is keep a 0.15 ratio! And only 0.5 for 150GB an more .. Easy!"

Well, appearances can be deceiving. In fact, Oink is probably the hardest tracker there is in terms of ratio building. The constant fluctuation in torrents, and the abundance of seedboxes out there, make it extremely hard to upload. Frankly, I found it much easier to upload 300GB to TorrentLeech than 10 GB to Oink..

Anyway, the best way to gain a good ratio at Oink is probably to rip a few albums and upload them yourself.

Forums

The community at Oink is regarded as one of the best. You can discuss anything in the forums, starting from your favorite music albums, on to Bittorrent stuff and you can even find some of the normal "bored to death" chit-chat. Here are the forum categories:

Cheating at Oink

Let me summarize it in one word (+apostrophe): DON'T!
Oink has one of the most advanced anti-cheating scripts out there. If you're caught cheating, you will be automatically banned from Oink. If you invite a cheater, you will lose all of your invites forever. This rule is probably the single reason why it is so hard for n00bs to get invites to Oink - people are just too afraid to lose their invites due to one bad seed.

Staff

The staff at Oink appears to be one of the most hated in the BT community, both among users and staffers.
A lot of users hate Oink because of its zero-tolerance policies towards members, including automatic invite removal upon invitation of cheaters, issuing warnings/disabling users uploading transcodes, and generally their blind reliance on their cheat detection scripts, which are reportedly far from being infallible.
Staffers tend to hate Oink because of its staff blatantly disregards other trackers privacy preferences.

Personally, I've never had a problem with the Oink staff. Then again, I've never cheated, invited a bad user or uploaded a transcode..

Agree with Black-Cats should be on lvl 5.

to Chevy - RevTT opened invites to regular users also,so every user there got atleast one invite(almost every user,only ones who weren't 4weeks members didn't get them)
