    If you liked this book you might like pillars of the earth by ken Follet it revolves around the building of a cathedral in medieval England. the time spa is about 60 years so by the end of the book characters that started out as baby's are very old and some die.
    Follet writes strait to the point with no bs in the middle and i like that very much

    Agreed, Pillars of the Earth is a classic.

    If this Marquez book is similar I'll have to look out for it.

    I just read the synopsis of the book on Ebay and has the same general feel of an historic novel that takes place over a long period of shows the advancement of the family with it's surroundings

    I'm about a quarter through it and it's excellent so far. I only have time to read a few pages at night unfortunately, so it's slow going.

    Follet's novel is a really interesting one, Gabo's is a masterpiece.
    Check out Love in the time of cholera although it's not as good as solidute

    I've read Love in the time of Cholera, it was the first of his books I read
