I read that article on FILEnetworks today, and you may be right - although ScT didn't shut down when TV-Land, a Pay2Leech site they depended on, was taken down by BREIN.
The reason I think this may be a "hard" joke is because the Scene would really like to see ScT die, something their staff is aware of.

I can confirm that the message is definitely there, smack dab on the front page. Whether it's a legit message from the staff is yet to be seen...
As to the downed top site, heres the article on filenetworks about it, but I have no idea whether or not it's connected to ScT:
