at first after clicking shutdown from the start menu the system shutsdown maning the cpu goes off automatically which is supposed to happen.

    this is ok

instead the monitor displays "it is now safe to shut down" !!!!!
as have winxp this is not supposed to happen and on the other hand my cpu does not have the switch off buton like the old computers have as it is supposed to switch off automatically !!

i have to shut off the power switch which i am not supposed to do !!

that's a bit harsh, but i have to agree that was a completely pointless post

@clocker - APM is new to XP, you can still get the nice shut-down features, they're just harder to find, and i don't know where they are

netweiser has been posting crap all over the board, he needs telling where to get off.

Re power management, on win2k it is in Control Panel/Power/Advanced, I would guess it is in the same place for XP.

    Nope.

Who has XP and knows where this is located?
