Hi. i have a slight problem FTP. Long time back i have been using 2 types of servers first was the windows, and the second one is Ubuntu. when i used Windows the FTP was really fast and when i used Ubuntu its too slow. So i just want to know y is there a lot of difference between them?
The reason because i really to buy a seed box but what i know that is Ubuntu is faster on Downloading and Upload too but slow with FTP. So could anyone advise me on which would be the best.

both are equally fast, if you know how to tweak them.
at Ubuntu, use Firestarter and refer to this documentation https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Firestarter
Which ftp server are you going to host? will you be needing an UI ?

you might also want to implement this solution to resolve the "too many open files" error that often occurs.

at least you save the money, not having to pay for a monthly fee for the OS.
