Personally, I started thinking they were doomed when they switched to the "sponsorship" scheme. Given the facts that they are a relatively new tracker and apart from the topsite request system, offer nothing you can't find at other sites, it wasn't the right time to force people to pay for a membership.

You have a good point there. Many people have flamed yocto and his ideas ever since he started the entire P2L thing.
