Instead of opening invites, why don't they make an invite application? Existing members could have their friends apply for an invite through the app. Staff would then be able to choose which users can and can't join. I think that would have been a better idea.

Also, everyone knew that they wouldn't open invites. There are too many idiots out there selling and trading their accounts. Why can't they just share them for their own good? I really hope that all invite sellers get globally banned one day.

That is my dream. To rid the internet of traders and sellers.

people will never stop. there is no chance. administration needs to get real, instead of think of excuses and blaming people. (reminds me of communism actually now that i think about it. great ideal but only creates a corrupt gov't)

Bottom line is the site doesn't want people inside the community to break the rules. If they don't follow the rules they will not have any invite privileges. It may never happen which is something people have to deal with.

And the only way to deal with it is to start a site just like it and have people learn how to cap TV, encode properly, buy their own Bluray disks and upload them.

Maybe you're right. Maybe I should start a site, but your point doesn't change the fact that HDBits could open invites and be more normal about it.

The caps and sources are almost all posted to usenet and spotted at ABHDTV anyway. So maybe I'll just hang around there more.

I always laugh when i see this venom over someone trading an invite. Its a torrent site people. Your not trading your wife ,( although I think many people when they know look across them in bed would like a chance to swap out)or your kids. I am aware of how trading is frowned upon and I am lucky that a couple of friends have invited me into several good sites. If I had a friend who had an invite into a site I wanted and vice versa of course i would swap with them.

Now if I give him an invite and then a week late he gives me an invite back that is better then giving them at the same time ?

Many people I have met on a site like this or a torrent site are good people. Like many people did this week when I heard about hdbits opening up I pm'd a dozen or so regular people i chat with at least once a month and said if u get an extra invite can u hook me up. To me thats what being a good member of the torrent scene does. U help friends enjoy Movies,tv,games, and music.

If sites are worried about collectors then simply don't give out any invites unless you have been an active member for several months. People who sign up won't be able to buy invites like at some sites and if they don't bother to download or use there account regularily (at least every 2 weeks) prune there accounts ( I know some sites do this).

Don't some people remember 25 years ago when u bought a nintendo or a sega and you trading games with your buddies instead of buying the games from the store. I know I did this. Now advertising trades on ebay or even on here I can see having negative benefits to the tracker in terms of unwanted pub. I get that part, no site wants to be shut down. But hdbits is afraid of its own members. Are these the same members regularily downloading stuff and contributing to what is supposed to be a great forum.

I think this was a preplanned move to announce the day well ahead just to be able to cancel it later. THen they can say well we tried. If they really cared they wouldn't announce it. Once a month or 3-4 times a year they would simply open up invites for a few hours in a day. People for the most part would only have time to contact people they already know to give an invite out.

Not once did I condone selling. Selling I agree is wrong. I just feel that the attitude that some sites have about there members is unrealistic. U can't have 20,000 members in anything without 200-300 jerks. Do we cancel the New years Eve fireworks because of the dozen knuckleheads smoking up (must be members of SCC according to there recent forum thread) under the bleachers or do we let the 5000 people enjoy the show.

HDbits can keep there doors closed and one day like every other site they will close and be replaced.

Stepping off my soapbox, kicking my feet back, just opened a cold one and going to enjoy my 3 weeks of holidays now.

best of the season to all and lets remember no matter how frustrated some get at times we are still getting great stuff for free

Another great post from you. Not sure what this forum would do without your great contributions.

nucks that's a very sensible post and I welcome you to this world of FST, where we can actually have a discussion about this shit rather than just act like fags on some invite only forum.

You're completely right about swapping with friends. There is really nothing wrong with that and it is the most prevalent form of trading around. Except nobody calls it trading of course.

I don't know if it was preplanned. I kind of doubt that. I've seen them do this before. I truly believe that there some of the staff are just completely unrealistic and don't feel like letting good people in outweighs the handful of people who sell invites.

It's a bit silly, but that's what they do each time invites are opened. Oddly, invites have always been plentiful and they were very easy to come by in 2006-2008 or so. Don't quote me on the years, but they were very easy to get into and now tons of traders and sellers are there, just as well as tons of good members.

Well before I have 2 more drinks and can't string a proper sentence together here's one more thing to think about. I can't really imagine that there is a huge differeance between hdbits and bithdtv. I know hdbits has 25% more files but do I personally need seven versions of the same movie. 90% of the time i find the movie I need on bithdtv. Would I signup at hdbits ... yeah for sure to try it out. As far as some people saying the encoding releases there are better I guess my eyesight is going becuase I can't see a differance on my 50" Samsung between WIKI, ESIR, Cinefile, or many others. All 720p proper releases play beautifully and sound great with dts soundtracks on my home theater.

I just wish if hdbits is much better for some reason then why not run your sight like bithdtv. Invites are plentiful, given away many places, and they keep the lid on total members so the sight doesn't go the way of TL with a huge userbase. Once the allusion of can't getting in was gone, I think the sellers would move on to there next hidden site.
