Two words, T rap.
So it seems my potential invite is as ephemeral as a Princess Unicorn.
i've been contemplating the same thing. they must foreseen the fall out and known from the get go that if they were not willing to go through with the open invites in this environment invites would never happen.
perhaps they are sadistic, or perhaps they were just trying to trump up publicity/prestige/ego for the site. perhaps in an attempt to stimulate donations from their current members.
I think they are a bunch of whiny faggots who can't deal with people selling invites like the staff at the rest of the sites do. So they make matters worse by cutting off the supply for over a year. How fucking brilliant is that?
Or perhaps they hoped that faggots on this site and others that have traders and sellers wouldn't try anything stupid. If the same stuff happened again they would just simply cancel. It was up to the users to decide if they wanted invites open or not and they failed miserably

They totally should have expected some of that stuff. There are better ways of dealing with it. Just buy the invites and ban the user and their invite tree. Or offer incentives to users who bought the invite.
Other sites deal with this problem just as well. HDBits is one of the best sites but can't seem to accept and deal with this reality. They have done this several times already.
That's sheer faggotry.

right, just blame the victims. because it's totally possible to not have people trade and sell invites. just like it's possible for all crime to end.
the site choosing to let a few bad apples ruin it for the rest of us who acquire invites without buying or trading is the fault of the site alone.
It is possible for people to not trade and sell. The answer is to have no such thing as invites. If people don't stop then they will never open up the doors. That also a slim chance so in essence people only have a slim chance of ever being a member
There is an even slimmer chance that at some point nobody who trades or sells invites will be a member of HDBits.
