    Yes, pretty much. As long as the file is on the server, fast speeds are guaranteed. And you don't have to upload back.

    I'm sorry, I am still new to all of this.

    How does uploading create more vulnerabilities than downloading?

    Either way (torrenting and newsgroups) your IP can be logged, correct?

    How about ddl, is that any safer than these other 2? (Safer as in your single IP is less noticed and less likely to be linked to such activities)

    In BT you create connections and upload to many users, increasing the chances one of them is a bot from the copyright companies logging your activity. In Usenet you only connect to the server.

    For a downloader, DDL is about as safe as Usenet, I'd say - probably depends on each hoster's privacy policy, but very safe in comparison to using public trackers or the larger private ones.
