Thief Thwarted by Xbox 360 Console
By Kevin Parrish, published on December 28, 2009

" A thief was caught playing a stolen Xbox 360 online.

Note to self: never play a stolen Xbox 360 console online. Apparently, that's what one thief actually did after stealing "dozens" of video games, consoles, laptops, and GPS devices. Sitting upon his virtual mountain of stolen electronics, 22-year-old Jeremiah Gilliam actually had the nerve to fire up the Microsoft console and jump online--presumably Xbox Live.

According to the New York Post, the Pelham, New York police traced the console's IP address back to the house of the thief's grandmother. The police were originally alerted to the theft by the parents of the console's original owner, who actually spotted his Xbox Live in use via another Xbox 360 unit.

"On the day of the burglary, the victim used another Xbox and saw his system was already online," said Pelham Detective John Hynes. "At the house, we found Xboxes, PlayStations, GPS units, laptops -- a total of 53 items, including stolen credit cards."

Hynes also said that the items were stolen from as many as 200 car break-ins and home burglaries in Westchester County. Gilliam is currently under arrest for grand larceny.

Dood, u were pwnd by a console. "
