i blame him fully. i would have hit him in the head with the veer bottle instead of just pour it on him

Bottomline is the Cubs gave up 8 runs in the 8th inning.
1 out does not a ball game make.

Instead of telling us what you would do to him, why don't you say what you would have done in his situation.Originally posted by Pitbul@15 October 2003 - 10:31

The foul ball is hit, it heads right for you, this is your chance to catch a fly ball. Do you really think you would notice the guy 8 feet below you about to jump up and try to catch it to? If a ball is heading into the stands, everyone's eyes are on the ball, not the players.
If you still think that you wouldn't have done the same thing, then I guess you aren't as susceptable (SP?) to excitement as most people are.
There is also the safety issue, the ball was only a few feet in front of him, you would be mighty stupid to ignore a baseball that is heading straight for you, your instinct would keep you from paying antention to the players.
If you want to blame someone, blame the ref that said that it wasn't a fan interference. Nobody seems to be complaining about the call.
Oh, and I would still like to know what inning this happened in.

8th inning
god damn anybody who thinks it was the fan's fault is an idiot.
EVERYBODY would try to catch that ball, he just happened to be there.
Its a disgrace that anybody would blame the game on him.
do you really think you would not try to catch it?
Its not fan interference, it was a FOUL ball. Fair Game.
now stfu
The sad part is that the fan had to escorted out of the stadium with loads of security for his own safety.
I have been a baseball fan all my life and I have never gotten an opportunity to catch a foul ball. I would have done the same thing.
well said, this is not like what happened with the Yankees several years ago, the fan did not reach over the wall. I mean hell, I would love to blame a fan for Tampa Bays 4 qtr implosion against the Colts on someone too.... but the only people responsible is what is supposed to be the #1 defense in football choking.
Ok ok.I will admit...the fan had nothing to do with them giving up 8 Runs.
But look at what all the Marlins was saying after the Game.....
“ Mike Redmond turned to me and said, 'OK, let's make that kid famous.' ”
— Derrek Lee, Marlins 1B, on the play in which a fan interfered with Cubs LF Moises Alou
“ We'll be talking about that guy for a long time. We need to send that guy a box of chocolates. ”
— Mike Mordecai, Marlins infielder
And I love this one.....
"I see what people do for a baseball," Conine said. "They fall on their face. They drop their kids. They spill their beer. They'd do anything for a $10 baseball."

Meet Steve Bartman. He's the poor 26-year-old Chicago Cubs fan who last night got his hands on that foul ball headed for outfielder Moises Alou's mitt. Bartman, who attended the University of Notre Dame, works for a Chicago-area consulting firm and serves as coach for a local youth baseball program. We wanted to speak with Bartman about last night's incident, but he did not return messages left on his office voicemail. And when we dialed Bartman up at his apartment--about three miles from Wrigley Field--we got a recorded message saying that his number had been disconnected. Which is probably not a bad idea
