For the past week or 2 I've been getting email from google.com. The email doesn't have an attachment on them, just advertistments and links to webpages about shopping and other things. What I don't understand is how they got my email address. The last time I went to google to search for something, one of those porn popup ads popped up which I quickly closed, because I heard about that trojan happening when people when to google.com. I know that google.com shouldn't send email. This doesn't sound right to me. Has anyone else got an email from them?

btw: They sent it to my yahoo address.

I've never heard of such a thing. Sounds like spyware or a trojan to me.

MusicChick........I do believe you'll need to run Spybot or Spysweeper ( freeware )and the for good measure Anti-Trojan Watch ( free to try ).

Come to think about it.....j_b_r is right. If it's only tour web-based mail that's affected, you can add them to your blocked senders list and that'll be that. But it's always a good plan to have Spybot & Anti-Trojan anyway.

hi all...theres another bewdy floating around ATM. E-mail from microsoft...delete it, do not open it...i know of 2 laptops that have been turned into real good door-stops because of this email, it doesnt seem to kill comps running windows95 though. where i work all email recipients on local intranet have been warned after we lost our recovery boilers from this prick being opened on 1 of the computers. my mums comp went down (win95) but we rescued it although others might be in the dark yet. BTW, this little cunt comes from tanzania, i spose if you cant eat, you might as well dream up something to ruin someone elses day...

4 points:
• U visited a site that captured ur email and sold it
• U visited a site and checked google to send u info (while signing up for something)
• ad/spy
• someone knows ur browsing habbits (cookies, outsider, insider)

In addition to the ad/spy programs, follow this step HERE then continue HERE. As i've said in another topic, with Norton Internet Security 2004 + Sygate Personal Firewall Pro v5.1 + Spybot Search & Destroy Advanced + HOSTS file, I DO NOT GET ONE POPUP, AD, SPY, or whatever u wanna call them.
