The site specializes in Jazz music and has a nice little collection of it too!







I would say that the greatest thing about the tracker is the following:
GREAT sense of community
VERY small community (look at stats)
The following rules:

• We have a ratio system, but it honestly doesn’t matter to the staff members. If we feel you are not contributing to the site in some way (it doesn’t have to be upload/download), we will limit your downloads. We have sympathy for those who have slow connections or are on shared connections.
• You must seed all torrents you download for 1 week or until you have reached a 1.0 upload/download ratio on that specific torrent. Staff will understand if circumstances prevent you from doing so.

If you are SERIOUSLY into or SERIOUSLY like jazz then this tracker is for you. The interview is quite intense (compared to others) but its worth being a part of if you like jazz....

The entire site is freeleech. Ratio is still tracked by the tracker, but no one will ever be banned for having a poor ratio. Hit and Runs are not tolerated, please seed for as long as possible.

Any member can submit an invite application. Invites are also available via IRC and recruitment threads in several places.


Userclasses/Promotions:

Due to the emphasis on sharing rather than ratio or bonuses, there are no automatic userclass promotions. The following userclasses exist at Vibes:

User: Self explanatory.
Uploader: People that the staff feel contribute something extra to the site through their many uploads. There is specific criteria for promotion but this is kept within the staff team for now. In the future, it will likely be an application process.
VIP: Promotion based on staff approval.
Trumpeters: People who help the site further and attempt to ensure all uploads are properly formatted and put together. Also encompasses ex-staff members.
Moderators, Admins, Sysops: Self explanatory.

AutoModerated FLAC torrents: As the site is heavily built around lossless files, we have a logchecker in place for EAC, XLD, and DVDDecrypter log files.
Shoutbox: We have a fairly active shoutbox with active staff participation. Problems and member queries are generally resolved within mere hours.

Commentary:

Vibes is a niche site for you jazz lovers out there, especially if you enjoy FLAC. We're a small tracker that doesn't endeavour to compete with the likes of the big music trackers, we merely share music between friends and that's all we ask of you too (aside from a general interest in jazz music of course ). Are you disillusioned with seedboxes and ratio, and just want a small place where you can hang out with a few likeminded individuals and share some music? Then our site is for you. The site is much more polished and has many more fairly standard features than it did when the site was launched, due to the diligent work of one of our coders. We take pride in listening to user input and we appreciate the safety and happiness of our members, especially our uploaders. You guys rock!

I thought I'd paste this here as it's a bit of an update from this outdated review, just to give you guys a sense of what the tracker is like. Though I no longer staff at this tracker it's still a great place for those of you who love FLAC and love jazz. For those of you looking for invitations they can be found in the invite sections of most major music trackers, or via IRC (though interviews aren't running at the time as far as I know).

Can I upload your torrents to other trackers?

No. We are a closed, limited-membership community. Posting our torrents on other trackers is useless, since most people who attempt to download them will be unable to connect with us. This generates a lot of frustration and bad-will against us at vibes, and therefore will not be tolerated.

Complaints from other sites' administrative staff about our torrents being posted on their sites will result in the banning of the users responsible.

Please do not upload the actual files from the torrents to other sites either. Many users work hard on making rips for vibes. Any users found uploading torrents that were ripped with vibes in mind risk being banned. Thank you for understanding.

what about this stupid rule? it goes without saying that everyone should be able to choose whether they want or not to share their own rips on other trackers.

Uploaders are obviously allowed to do what they wish with their own files, and they're also free not to mark them as exclusive. It's simply a system put in place to placate the uploaders from the two big lossless sites where this rule also exists. If the torrent is marked as exclusive and someone uploads it at another site without the uploader's permission, they could be warned. The onus is on the uploader to decide whether or not to report violations.
