OK as you can see down you can see the words PROCESSER PENDING
thats because i have no idea of waht processer to buy! It's taking me 6 months to figure out the answer.

Now I'm on a budjet with these in mind ($1500 with tax)

Heat Sink: Depends if amd is choosen ($40)
RAM: Samsung/Infineon Chip 512MB PC-3200 (400MHz) DDR $125 (2)
VC: ATI Original Radeon 9600PRO 128MB DDR 8X AGP ( Retail Box ) $269
SC: Creative Sound Blaster PCI128 4.1 $30
NIC: Realtek 10/100 PCI Network Card $14
HDD: Maxtor 80GB 7200rpm 2MB Cache IDE $109
RW: LG 48X/16X CDRW/DVD-ROM Combo (Beige) $81
FDD: Panasonic 1.44MB Floppy Drive (Beige) $20
KB: PS/2 Keyboard $15
Mouse: Microsoft IntelliOptical USB Mouse $45
Spk: Stereo Speakers $9
Case: IC Basic $25
PS: Standard 300W Power Supply $39
Display: LG 17" 700S Beige CRT $175
War: 3 Year Labour & 2 Year Parts Depot Warranty ( 3&2 Depot Warranty ) $25

Intel pentium 4 2.4ghz + asus p4s800 with the stuff up there and no retail heatsink i go 100 dollars over budjet

AMD = ?????? (No idea) Everyone says "ohh ohh amd is cheaper blablablabla etc."
But how come i can't get a good processer with my budjet!?
Even lamsey's guide says "good value" but i jsut don't see it

I was thinking of the athlon xp 2500+barton but it seems kinda low?? i mean i'm not rich i can't upgrade every year but i wanna meet the system requirements of games so i can atleast play them and i wanna meet the minimum system requirements for game for atleast 2 years. i know right now the miniumums are 700mhz-1gig+ processer while begining of the year it was 450mhz-700mhz
the next step is the 2800+ which is $279 wooooooh pricey. So i don't see the value of amd.

so in conclusion pending processer = i still don't know.

What do you think?

and NO:

internet shopping, tv shopping, mail order, phone order, anything that has to do with give your credit card number away and results in shipping

i can always downgrade with an asus v9520 videosuite geforcefx 5200 8x agp vivo is that card any good?

Your probably thinking "no keikan not again!!!"
Ohh noo!!! I make dribbles!!!

What? That's a rip off.

And your whole rant about AMD makes no sense. If you want an affordable system stick with AMD, or you can go the proprietary route and get some Dell that you can never upgrade.

If you want to throw your money down the tubes, you go and buy that Intel 2.4 chip. I will laugh at your idiocy (I like that word).

As has been discussed before. The 2500+ is fast and you won't see much difference if you go faster, even 3200+, unless you run benchmarks.

Don't be fooled by all the hype of the higher CPU speeds. Save your cash and you will see that the faster ones will drop in price to the point that you can get a 3200+ or faster for less than their current price minus the current price of the 2500+. So in effect you end up with both CPUs for less than buying the fast one now.

I'm also quite confident that the 2500+ will do anything you want it to and pretty fast too.

With the difference you save you could replace the CD burner/DVD combo with a DVD burner.

If you're putting this together yourself, there's a few cheaper things...you don't need no warranty, most components (other than
bare parts or OEMs) have some sort of warranty.

RAM: Check here (cheaper)
Video Card: 20$ cheaper & free shipping
Sound Card: 8$ cheaper, free shipping
NIC: If you've got an OfficeMax, Circuit City, or something like that nearby, check their Sunday ads, they've usally got em free with a rebate.
Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 80GB 7200 RPM w/round cables, free shipping
Sony 48x24x48x16 DVD/CDRW:59.00, No Shipping
10$ floppy drive
20$ microsoft Internet Keyboard
$24 Optical IntelliMouse
Speakers: 9
Case: 25
PSU: 39
CRT: 175

equals: ~792$
Then:

For P4: Intel MoBo: $174, 2.6GHz 800MHz FSB P4 (retail, w/fan): $246 Total P4 Package: ~1212$

For AMD: 139$ Asus MoBo, Athlon XP 3000+ 2.16Ghz 333MHz Bus, retail w/fan: $255 Total AMD Package: ~1186$

this post is guaranteed 100% parrot-free

oh boy...

why are you so concerned with building a kick-ass PC for an affordable price, and you want to make sure that you get your money's worth, but then you're actually considering putting that crappy soundcard in it. using an antique soundcard like that one will immediately reduce your framerate, and it'll throw away the advantage you gained by buying the best CPU that you could afford.

sound cards-- audigy 2, nforce 2 with MCP-T, or fortissimo 3. maybe you're not an audiophile (otherwise you wouldn't be buying $9 speakers), but there are two reasons why new soundcards are more expensive: it's because the sound quality is better and because they handle the sound processing more independently. anything less will shove a lot of the sound processing work onto the CPU when you're playing games, and it will affect your framerates.

the SB PCI 128 in a modern game PC... it's just not right.

Great post sparsely, agree with it in most places, other than maybe you could find a floppy drive for -2, and save a few on the HD, seeing as how he probably wont need to look at the inside of his case.

ATI Original Radeon 9600PRO 128MB DDR 8X AGP ( Retail Box ) $269
asus v9520 videosuite geforcefx 5200 8x agp vivo 128mb

These 2 cards are not designed for the same use. 9600pro is for ultra fast gaming while 'videosuite' is for movies.
