I'm not posting this on an audiophile forum because I know I would be ripped to shreds for trying to use a sub with a gash in it. (I would by a new one, but I can hardly make payments on the heat lol)
Anyway I received this Z-5500 Digital 5.1 setup for x mas, which is pretty nice for computer gaming by the way.

To make a long story short the person who I received them from must have dropped the shipping box, which put a huge dent in it.
The seller off eBay wouldn't return his money, and I was basically stuck with them.

I currently don't have the money to buy a new computer sub and was wondering if there is a cheap fix. (I know there ruined but just a way to suppress some of the air coming out of the hole)
I was thinking about putting duck tape on it, previousally I layed my crybaby on top of the hole to suppress some of the sound from being released through the hole.

Looking for ideas from anyone who knows about subwoofer repair/rigging lol

Pictures(sorry I know my camera is trashy lol):

If your only issue with the sub is the hole pictured, I would be inclined to go to a Home Depot/ Lowes/ WE and find a piece of "culled" (miscut, or damaged) MDF (medium density fiberboard). Also, get a small tube of Liquid Nails. Ask one of the helpful people at the home service center, to cut the MDF to a size that is 2"-4" larger than each side of the hole. So, if the hole is 2" long and 1" across, I would want a piece of MDF cut that is 6" to 10" by 5"-9". It is up to you, what you really need to do in insure that you will have enough surface covering that hole that no air will get out. The thicker the MDF, the less resonant the patch will be, so I would rec a 3/4" piece. That is used inside A LOT of commercial subs.

Before doing this also check the woofer. If coil does not slide straight and smooth, the voice coil could also be facked. Which would mean the 6$ spent on fixing it would be useless.

If the woofer is good, take a fine bead and apply it to a pre-cleaned subwoofer top around the hole. Be careful to not get that sticky shiz on anything else. Place the MDF on the Liquid Nail and let it sit overnight. Leave sub OFF until the LN dries fully.

Also, if you want the patch to look a little less "patchey" you can paint that block with a similar black spray paint. Maybe add some stickers...

    Happy pounding, Bud!

project complete... I did it a little different than you suggested but I'm pretty happy with the outcome. (haven't plugged it in yet so I don't know about sound quality)

I pushed the dented in wood up and put some contact cement, then some bondo body kit repair, then some putty. Then buffed it out and respray painted it.
