The reason he gives for shutting the service is pure bullshit ... or maybe he's a complete idiot. It's not *technically impossible* at all. If he didn't want people outside deep-linking to search results on his site, he could have easily inserted a script that would have blocked click-thru referrals and required users to go to the front page to search the site. (Google crawlers can also be blocked easily.) A lot of web sites are set up this way. Typically, most site owners who want to cut down on *drive-bys* just make people log in.

I think that BinTube's shutdown was planned all along, and he's playing us for fools. I can't believe he thinks we're so stupid to actually believe that bullshit

History repeats, and I again feel the pain of a knife in my back. In typical fashion, this was a guy who went around promoting his *free* NZB site and asking for suggestions to improve it.

Should I send a bill for my yet-unpaid consulting work?

You are not welcome among us. You have no sovereignty where we gather [...] I declare the global social space we are building to be naturally independent of the tyrannies you seek to impose on us.

I don't know if many people would want to use Bintube's 'newsreader' - as it reqires Dot-NET, and not just any version, but always the latest verson of Dot-NET. -- which can be a bit of a hassle for anyone using a bootleg copy of Windows, as it can't be updated easily.

Anyway, it probably won't be easy to hack an online search engine that requires a login password, as BinTube's now does.

Cough, cough, I know of hacked one....use your brain on this one, and if you know it, then use it, don't say it...

As for Bintude, it seemed quite gimicky and slow compared to NZBIndex and Binsearch which both have picked up steam and Binsearch now has a poll speed vs retention, I choose 600 days over speed.

    I fully agree with u.

even if it is hacked then the password would be blacklisted within some time. or it would stop functioning ones the same username or password becomes famous and used by many.

more over i never think bintube's absence would make any much difference.

Yah I just realized this the other day. I have been using nzbindex for a while but it couldn't find something that I knew was there.

Then I saw the 600 days hell yes!! Thats nice!

^^ Yeah BinSearch is massive, even SS only goes up to 370days.
