i check ppls shared folder everynow and then when im dl from them to see if there are any files i might like that i didnt know of
anyways one time i checked someones shared folder and i instantly got a list up to 20,000 files! in the search window and it continued to grow until my cpu froze when it reached close to 35,000 files!!
35,000??? I think he's sharing the whole of is hdd... [/b][/quote]
Yep, if you're sharing more than about 2,000 files you BETTER turn on the hide shared files option or EVERYTIME someone tries to list your files it overloads YOUR connection. It's gotta UPLOAD a copy of all the filenames, file sizes, probably Kazaa hashes, file details, etc. Figure at least 1 KB (or more) per 10 files -- so 2,000 files = 200 KB = 20 seconds at 10 KB/sec!
(In short, it's an 'expensive' feature&#33

I had close to that much for a bit, when I had some hundreds of comic book scans, with a jpg for each page (plus music, movies etc). Lost em all with my last reformat, down to 1500 files now ;-/

But if that was 35,000 mp3s, that dude's gotta be one of the RIAA's top targets.
