with OEM you usually don't get things like manuals or cables or long warranties, concordantly the prices are lowerOriginally posted by bigdawgfoxx@25 October 2003 - 18:14
Whats the difference between that and Retail?

What resolution will you get aproximatly for a 21 inches 300 $/€ monitor ?Originally posted by Damnatory@25 October 2003 - 09:09
Hmm, I'm running a 19" Sony Trinitron and I'm loving it. I got it for like $290 on Price Watch almost a year ago. I'm sure you could get a 21" for the same price by now. I hear the Samsung SyncMaster's are pretty nice too.
CRT is definatly the way to go, LCD flat panels are horrible for gaming because the refresh rates are so slow. The only thing that looks better on a LCD is text.
Thanks for all the info...What do you think about this one . I cant afford $ 1,300.00 us . for a good lcd monitor for gaming.
Let me know what you think??
A lil ugly, but I think it's a nice monitor. It has a .20 dot pitch which will look really good!

My 19" is supported up to 1600 x 1200, so I don't think you'll have a problem there.
OK whoever says that flat screen LCDs are crap for gaming is either a complete moron or they bought a crappy one several years ago.
I bought a 17 inch flat screen from dell 3 years ago called the "1701FP" with a max res of 1280x1024. It was only $1000, which was a steal compared to the ViewSonics and the other things available at the time, which were around 2 or 3k.
There is absolutely NO GHOSTING whatsoever, even on the fastest action games. I always run the monitor at its maximum resolution, which is probably why it has lasted so long (it doesn't need to scale up or down all the time). There are 1,310,720 pixels on the screen and one pixel on the far left side is one tiny shade darker than all the others. That's all the damage it has recieved over 3 years of use! 0.0000000076% of the monitor's pixels are slightly off.
LCD screens never ever flicker. So if you're staring into a monitor forr a few hours each day it wont wreck your vision. It's an incredibly sharp picture and i assume it uses a lot less power. It's at least 80% lighter, and it doesn't generate any static. Once you go LCD, you NEVER go back.
all LCD models are unique different, even if the response time is the same - the only way you can tell how bad the lagging is if you look at it yourself, or find an accurate reviewOriginally posted by Sparsely@26 October 2003 - 07:47
I don't know....I use LCDs at work, and I still don't like em.

LCDs are MUCH easier on the eyes! I'm 15 and my eyes are going bad from looking at my CRT so much...
