Cd Rewriter Problem

about a 3 days ago my cde writer was working and now it aint

i put the cd in u can hear it spining then it stops then it starts then it stops i try to open the cd from run but it reads please insert cd into e drive

when i try to burn something in nero it starts a high pitch screech and then slowly dies down i click abort in nero and after 5 mins it reads error burning dosk
power clabiration error.

can i fix this problem

using xp home edition 512 ram 1.7ghz
LITE -ON LTR- 24102M (CD REWRITER)

time to buy a new one, strange sounds are a sure fire givaway that something is amiss

I defintitely gotta agree on that! Sounds, and smells both are bad things. at first I would say that it's something in the arm that controls the read/write head, but that "screech" makes me wonder.

I hope its still under warranty

LOL at least it's not one of those "my cupholder is broken" issues!
