When ever I d/l Norton updates, once im done i get the message: "Some of the updates that were just installed require that you reboot your machine now. please save all data, then press OK to reboot...blah...blah..blah" and thers only ONE button, the OK button....SO....is there any way of getting round this so i dont have to restart, im just keeping it in the backround for now...

i get that msg too and i do what norton says i reboot its important that u do that so it can update the files on starting up the pc

which OS do u both have? also, this may explain a bit, yet running 2003 or 2004 on 2k or xp, i've never seen it.

Ya I know for sure on XP it does not have that message and a restart is not required; but maybe on a previous OS you may have to restart computer.

I have XP and no I don't have to restart after virus def. updates. However I would guess that some program updates could perhaps require a restart.
