Radeon 9800 Pro.
Just bought it for $300 US--and it comes with Half Life 2 when it comes out.
Wolfmight, does your card look like this? That looks like the 9700 pro.Originally posted by Wolfmight@26 October 2003 - 16:59
My ATI Radeon 9500 Pro
I've gotten it to get similare benchmarks (very close) as a ATI Radeon 9700 Pro.
128mb of video ram running on an 8 Pixel Pipeline
mobo has 8x AGP support (adds few extra fps, but alot more of the little specs like triangles and such)
-Dammit Toms Hardware!! all blockin my image!
running a 9800 pro 256mb baby, shes my pride and joy. oh btw, i got her overclocked to

The very first 9500 pro's that came out were identical to the 9700 hardware wise, they just had 4 of the pipelines disabled. People were able to unlock the 4 extra pipes and flash with 9700 pro bios and it was practically a 9700 pro for a 9500 pro price. So they changed it from the L formation (ram layout) to the I form. Which is what you posted here.
Eventually, ATI dropped the 9700 line completely because it was too good of a deal overall.
If the L formation version is indeed the card he got and he felt inclined, he could turn it into a 9700 pro if he learned how.
I for one have a 9700 TX card I got with a DELL 4550 system last christmas. GREAT deal on the card, it was cheaper than a 9700 non pro, and just a couple mhz lower clock. But it's default 8 pipeline active and it's a real R300. Love the card.
