This setup should do you fine then.

As for the overclocking, that's up to you but again I say (for what you want to do) you want reliability and stabillity not the fastest it will go. You won't notice the difference anyway.

Why would abu be your trusted reference anyway?

About the jumpers. When you get your board there is a manual that shows step by step instructions on how to set it up. If you still have problems then just come back here with your questions.

i notice a lot of ppl using the board u (virtual) gave me links to are using a amd 1700 processor. so would this amd 1800+ processor be ne slower to the 2000+?

A bit slower yes. But you can run the Athlon 2100+ or even 2400+ if you have a the extra cash.

One other thing I noticed about your link to the 2100+ is that it's OEM. If at all possible get the 'retail' version instead of OEM. Retail has an included cooler and a much better warranty.

I have a Shuttle board and it is a pretty decent board.I would likely go with it over the ECS board myself,but that is only my opinion.There is nothing wrong with the ECS board though.I also have an Athlon XP 2200+ that I have overclocked up to 1.96 gig and it is absolutely as stable as anything else I have ever used.I run very good temps even while playing games(35-42 degrees).
You may want to look for a board that will handle ram faster than 266mhz though.Look for a board that will run faster ram therefor you won't have to upgrade your board for a few years. I bought my board not knowing much about front side bus speeds and ram speeds and what not and now I am looking for a new board so I can support faster ram,if I had done some reading in the first place I may not have to upgrade now.
Oh,and by the way.Never ,and I mean never buy a PC Chips board.They are absolute junk.

How about this board http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?...rtby=14&order=1 .It supports faster ram and gigabyte is a pretty good manufacturer.I had one of their boards and I loved it and it is only about 10 bucks more than you were looking to spend.

That's a pretty good price,but I got mine for 80 bucks canadian taxes in.The market here is so saturated that some people are selling there stuff for less than they payed for it.
