Let me start by saying I HATE THE SYSTEM TRAY. Now that that's out of the way, is there anyway to completely hide it (like in windows 7) on windows XP?

EDIT: Hide, not remove. I want it accessible, just not visible. If I wanted to remove it, I can just edit the registry, but no, I want to hide it.

Right-click -> Properties -> tick "automatically hide the taskbar"?

No, I like the taskbar, and have many meters/monitors overlaid on it that I like to see at a glance. I hate just the system tray/notification area, whatever you want to call it.

Oh, you're talking about the tray, my mistake.

As far as my knowledge goes, the closest thing you can achieve is hiding the clock and all tray icons. Both can be done from the "properties" window as well.
