    For institutionalization, yes.

But you would have to agree that what we are doing now is unsustainable, right?

Something is going to have to give.

    1. Bring our military home from everywhere in the world (including our bases in Europe and Japan). Abandon the Iraq and Afghanistan wars immediately. We don't have the guts to do what nees to be done to win them, so consider them a lost cause and abandon them. Focus on what we need for the actual defense of our borders and coastlines, and cut the spending on anything we don't need for that purpose.

    2. Resign from and abandon the U.N., the W.T.O., treaties, etc., and cut off all foreign aid to everyone-- no exceptions!

    3. Stop paying any interest or principal on all of our national debts. We already owe so much we can't pay them back anyways, so stop trying to pay them back. Stop basing our government and the economy on debt.

    4. Stop paying for all entitlement programs-- Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Welfare, etc. Roll back taxes to a minimal level-- just enough to provide for a mutual defense program. Get rid of most of the federal agencies (E.P.A., F.D.A., U.S.D.A., etc.), and allow states to police themselves instead. End all federal regulation of private businesses. Let the free market sort things out for itself.

What do you think so far? Would you vote for me?
I'm sure I've heard those words before.

    1. I actually agree more than disagree with this.

    2. Not so much

    3. Part 1 disagree, part 2 agree

    4. You seem confused, this is not foreign policy, but thanks for posting anyway. Can't see you getting elected with this plan, you see those tea party protesters had signs saying "keep your government hands off my Medicare and social security", heck even the anti government nut job that wanted bricks thrown though lawmakers windows because he objects to socialism is living on disability welfare.

I can still taste the dirt from where my jaw dropped to the ground when republicans were demanding no cuts in Medicare.

    2. What don't you like about those ideas?

    3. Be honest now. Do you really think we will ever be able to pay back the national debt? If not, then why bother paying back even one more penny of interest on a hopeless cause?

    4. Yeah, that's not foreign policy, but it still needs to be done. I have serious problems with some of the things the Tea Party movement stands for, and that is one of them.

if someone owed you money do you think it fair that they don't pay you?

As for the EPA FDA and USDA I would give them teeth and make sure they actually did what they are supposed to do. I don't want diseased meat, contaminated vegetables, lead paint on kids toys, mercury in my drinking water or my air poisoned.
While I agree that some regulations are senseless, the free market had 5 year olds working in mills and safety takes a back seat to costs.

I agree that I would want to be paid back if I lent some money out, but there is a point of no return, and I think the U.S. has already sailed past that point several years ago. Perhaps if the government immediately stopped all spending right now, we could pay it back eventually, but I don't see that happening in the near future, do you?

There is a built-in inefficiency in anything having to do with the government. Trying to get those agencies to do what they were supposed to do seems to be an exercise in futility.

Why do you think that is?

Actually I like the quote "republicans say government doesn't work, then get elected to prove it"

J2 used to have "it's not what government can or can't do , but what it should and shouldn't do" on his posts.

There will always be members of government making sure regulatory agencies don't work.

Oddly enough those same lawmakers that oppose government regulations on food, air quality or safety are usually the ones trying to strengthen things like the FCC because nipples are deadly.
