Thread: Best anti-virus program to deal with fals positives?

  1. #1
As any who do what we do know, often some of the important files we rely on in our day to day get detected as false positives by whatever anti-virus program we may be running. I am getting sick of this. I trust the source of the files I am using, and though I am sure they fit certain patterns, I am thinking they are most likely clean, otherwise the folks who provided them would not last long in the community.

All this said, can anyone recommend a good AV program that tends to pass over and not false positive like others do? Hopefully my question is clear enough.. Let me know if you need more information. Oh and thanks for any helpful info you may be able to provide..

I use NOD32 2.7 and never really had problems with packed/encrypted EXEs.

Just for the record, a nice way of knowing whether something is a false positive or not is uploading it to VirusTotal: if a few antivirus engines detect it as some "generic" backdoor/malware, it probably isn't harmful.
