    Hey guys,

Just a friendly reminder that we rely on you to keep our servers and site operational. If we don't make donation costs for any month the site goes down permanently.
If you're able to help support FTN please do so. We have until 2 days before the end of each month to reach 100% before we start wiping the servers.

Thanks for those of you who've already helped this month and previous,

    B
is he serious about that again?
Most likely, he began limiting donations at around 100% so technically they are living on a month-to-month basis. I don't think anyone should think negatively of him for asking for donations, he's obviously spent his own time and money on it, and is at the point where if the members don't want to support it he's willing to close the site down because he no longer wishes to pay from his own pockets, which is understandable.

and pay for axx at the level of a site like FTN/SCC. You have to remember, sites like those they can't get regular access to sites; their footprint would be too large to go unnoticed/ignored. They usually resort to running their own sites, apparently SCC runs two, even. Keeping up a torrent site might require a simple server to relay info between peers and host 10,000 threads, but costs of an actual site on the other hand are much larger to handle.
    Ellipses go here.

After all is said and done... they should either have some sort of plan in place about how to take the site forward, or just graciously let it go...

It's a sad way to go down, IF it eventually happens, to be remembered as a site either fucked over by PayPal, or who couldn't get enough donations from members...

I was lucky enough to be invited there almost 3 months ago, and in that time all I've read about is donations, server costs, site closing if not enough money is forthcoming, etc etc... not what I expected from FTN at all

I don't know why don't you post that on FTN and ask him?
    Respect my lack of authority.

Not everything will be worth the hype that some people claim it to be.
It's best to help your friends and be honest instead of burning bridges. There's alot more to life than being a member of the best private tracker. I'm proud to be part of the best community there has ever been.

For some reason I'm starting to get that impression myself... very disconcerting, I've not been on there long at all, and it's the second time it's been 'threatened'..

    Some things to ponder...

This is the 23rd, there is a week remaining before "doomsday"
The donated amount is at 66%
Instead of creating a large overage, donations were cut off at 100% last time
Most of the people who are crying, "the end is here, the end is here", did so last time.

This is not a "scam", it is just B's way of asking for people to donate before the last minute. Since the site is not keeping a reserve, this is what needs to be said.

I would recommend the site keeping a 1 month reserve so things do not become so dire on a monthly basis.
