Actually you could crop the extra piss at the sides. Which generally have nothing of great interests. I know why the files aren't 720, but I am a stickler for techincal specs. Which those files fail in fullfilling. Which everyone seems to forgetting.720 scan lines take into account the black bars cropped out during encoding to save space. If you take a source (often 1080i, or 1920x1080 before cropping), crop out the black bars, and then resize it to 1280x720, you've messed up the aspect ratio of the picture. I'd know, I just did this by accident on an encode the other day. 720p videos are resized for the 1280 width, and then the black bars removed by cropping are simply added by your media player of choice if you fullscreen the video.
