i had the same problem a few weeks back, but good old microsoft error reporting helped me find out what was wrong and where the new drivers for the modem were

Have you got the service pack from www.windowsupdate.com?
When i used to get these errors (IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL) I was pointed to the service pack, installed it, and havnt heard a peep out of windows since
(well, I did have to reinstall later because i screwed up the DLL's, but thats another story)

i have had a similar sounding error with xp from time to time, but thats cos i try to have SoulSeek/Kazaa/Kanat running simultaneously, and i try to encode films too, all of which eat resources/RAM, so it crashes in order to get some peace and quiet from me

I used 2 get this error when i didn't turn the computer off properly...
since i started shuting down the right way... I have never had this problem
i have tried updating my video/sound/usb modem... still it does it not long after i run emule... as my copy of xp is, shall we say, not entirely legit and an early version, it won't let me for some strange reason download the service pack...
