Me neither. I guess one day the Managers decided it'd be a good idea to let them (and search engines) read threads in the trading and GA sections. When I first noticed I thought it was a bug or something.

I REALLY think guests shouldn't have access unless they register. Just like a Private site. Register or get an invite to view the browse, forums etc. Guests should only be able to view the lounge and other nonsense subforums.

FST is business. this way it could attract more people. when they read it, they interested to register here

What about those things in some forum sites where you type w/e you want hidden in a certain box so to unregistered users it says: "To view this content, register" or something

Why not, as long as you only have to register and not post - the latter would result in a massive amount of spam.

The only potential downside I can see is other members misusing the tag.

Well i never knew about guests being able to view, but obviously the idea is.

members dont usually give invite codes out here, its just I have ... who wants it/trade for it.

So if guests can see these, and want these, then they join up and reply to the thread in question.

Obviously the problem arises when someone just posts a load of codes, its just guests that get in, or make dupe accounts (even though i am pretty sure the dupe accounter was a member here, but not positive.

The weird thing is though, and I have not logged out of here in months, so I may be talking rubbish, I am pretty sure guests get google adwords/ads between posts, members dont, so changing them to members will bring in less cash from advertising (surely).

Yup, I see Usenet banner ads when visiting as a guest. I'm not blocking ads for FST, though. They don't bother me, and a forum as large as this one can certainly use the revenue.

Sorry for bringing an old thread back. But since this was the place to discuss the idiot who stole referrals, I know who it is. But I am scared to post the name as it may break rules. PM me if I can, because I very well will and post what an idiot he is. And yes, he is a member (of FST ofc) and he is being talked to atm about it.
