Go away and listen to some disconnected noise and call it Jazz or something, this is serious business.

Go watch a Fellini movie with no plot or character development and call it film, this is serious business.

I could go into a long treatise on how Fellini brought something new and utterly original to film audiences.How by using archetypal characters and elements of realism contrasting starkly with the surrealistic ( to the iconic extent that the process ,later used to such great effect by David Lynch,Tim Burton and Guillermo del Toro become known as "Felliniesque") he effused a sense of sublime drama into the mundane.
Or how he used celluloid the way a great painter uses a canvas to create a palette of emotion by simple , sometimes barely perceptible variance of colour but in the end I'd probably have to agree with you.

What kind of proof do you want?

I would say, evidence of a level 6+ dinner invitation (no french fries, or sodas), "friend picks up the tab", you leave generous tip. Photo(s) are taken by a non-paid third-party using either your, or your friend's camera. Following meal (of similar quality/value) occurs within 30 days of first gathering. Evidence of same parties involved must be provided. This time you pick up tab; "friend" pays tip. Again, photos are to be taken by third-party.

*Bonus points to be given if neither party is wearing same outfit.*

I could also go on a rant about the complex time signatures, dissonant tones and improvisational prowess make jazz a prime example of free expression but I'll spare you (for now).
