actually, good scene release comes way early than "go out and buy"

fastest way, other than being in the scene, is Usenet&IRC or a kickass torrent tracker, I mean really really kick ass torrent tracker
    ...

What.CD has been a source in the past for many Scene releases, simply because of the massive community and the various resources available to its members, but is simply not the source for most pre-releases, and is very much at the mercy of the flow of Scene releases.

Relying on groups to leak albums early is probably the best, and cheapest bet. Find an invite to a decent torrent site (like SCC or GFT) or p2l and be happy at all music; the scene is the main source of pirated material, and as such has got the reliable links necessary to leak new releases, be it even CEOs of record companies, all the way down to "Tuesday rippers."

Buying in shop is a surprisingly reliable way of early music, do not underestimate it. You may go into your local HMV or Virgin Megastores or your local franchise equivalent, but you wont find early releases there... you need them independent music/media stores which have little problems selling cds or dvd early.

    Usenet (in my experience anyway)

    Usenet
Usenet is not as good for audio and anime as private trackers

But if u need movies(dvdrip\BDrip\especially blurays then thats where it shines)

Thanks to scene and some p2p groups which are widely available on many filesharing networks.
