Thread: Looking for a new P2P file sharing program

    Question Mark

Hi everyone, I'm looking for a good P2P file sharing software. I've used Bearshare in the past and MP3Rocket for the last year.

What are the best ones out there now. I will mainly use it for downloading music, and occasionally an application.

Thanks for any tips, help, or advice you can offer.

    Peace, Prozac

If you need it only for music then try ares . It's great , or just use utorrent with a private music tracker

If you want to search and download tracks like in Limewire, Ares should do. The latest versions connect quickly and you don't get as many fakes in the search results.

What do you think about MP3 Rocket?

    Wasn't that a Limewire rip-off?

I've used both, and to me their interface is certainly different, and I got a lot more hits on song searches, in MP3 Rocket.

So to me, it doesn't seem like a rip off of Limewire.

If that's the MP3 Rocket you're talking about, it's strikingly similar to Limewire to me.

Even if it isn't a rip-off, it runs on the Gnutella network, which I really wouldn't recommend using nowadays.

Yep, I can see some of the similarities from the screenshot now. What do you not like about the Gnutella network - just curious. And what do you like instead or in place of Gnut?

    Thanks for your feedback btw.

It's increasingly becoming the next FastTrack (the one Kazaa operated on), being full of bots replying with fakes, viruses and porn to any search query.

Ares! It's not perfect either, but as I said before, should be the best substitute for what you're currently using.

Ares has great reputation. I've been using it for music since I was a little kid.
Unfortunately, trackers proved to be more efficient and had less fake files(none).
