    how do i make the blue rectangle that covers the writing under icons on the desktop clear? I am running xp

    right click, my computer> propeties> advanced> performance settings> visual effects, then tick use drop shadows, for icons on desktop. tada,

    I think you mean have a transparent background for icon text on the desktop...

    Right-click My Computer and select Properties. Click the Advanced tab and then the Settings button within the Performance box. Near the bottom of the items in the list-box, you'll find Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop - make sure there's a tick (checkmark) in the box for this option. Click Apply and then OK all the way back to the desktop.
    If this hasn't worked, right-click any space on the desktop, point to Arrange icons by and make sure that Lock web items on desktop is not ticked (checked)
    if your font size is this small i'll add you to my ignore list because you're wasting my time, OK?
