VLC seperate video window

I am having a problem with VLC. Just installed it yesterday and when I try to watch a video two windows open. A window with the controls and a window with the video called "VLC (Direct3D output). I have used VLC before and there's only supposed to be one window. How do I fix this?

VLC v1.0.5 Here...

Tools > Preferences > Video > Output > Default ???

Edit: Remember to close and restart VLC for changes to settings to take effect.
