its BB4Win (blackbox for windows)

works pretty good so far, only been using it a few days, runs ALOT slimmer than the default windows shell, or any other replacement i have tried to date.

though its not for your average (click button, make pretty) user

takes a little scripting knowledge for some plugins to work right
but things are improving speedily

I used aston for quite a while but I got tired of it. Overall its a pretty good shell but I still think it needs a lot of work (development).

yeah i tried Aston. but it sucked up so much memory that the computer became un-usable, so i canned it. i was leary about the port of blackbox to windows, but from what i can see the guys who ported it did a fantastic job.

But then again I have 3gigs of ram on the mj-12 that I was running it on. Despite that it actually seemed to run a lot lighter than the traditional windows shell. [/b][/quote]
i got 2.0ghz,512mb ddr,7200 rpm 80gb, 128mb radeon 9500 pro....and Aston does make it hard to open and close very 3d games still.

512 megs is ok, but you should consider getting at least another 512 to make it at least a gig of ram. That is of course if your box can handle a simple gig of ram. Most modern pc can take about 4 times what it came with straight out the factory.

yours may be extendable to a gig or more I dont know.
Whatever the case, with a decent processor, (or in my case, dual processors) you can never have "too much" ram B)
